God My Restorer

This is how it works: God longs for relationship with us. From the very beginning when He created the Earth, He had us in mind. The sky, the water, the plants, the animals, the heavens…all for us. But do you know what I think is one of the greatest gifts He ever gave us? Free will. We aren’t robots roaming the Earth. We aren’t lame puppets. He created us with the ability to make choices. The power to choose life or death. The power to love or to hate. The power to make a difference or be indifferent. The power to obey or be disobedient. Adam and Eve had a choice. You and I have a choice. God has a choice….and He chooses us.

So what in the heck does this have to do with restoration? Well, when God’s perfect creation disobeyed His command (by choice mind you) it created a chasm between Him and us. Since that moment in time, God longs to restore His creation so He can maintain a relationship with them (us). This is where Jesus comes into the picture. Even in the midst of our failures (because lets be honest…we ALL screw up) and even with the fact that we are beaten up and slightly broken, Jesus knows our worth. He sees our value as “priceless.” So He takes our bad decisions, fears, failures, and shortcomings and forgives them. He can do that because He’s perfect. If He didn’t do it then we would not have any hope. Our life on Earth would be merely that…life on Earth, and then adios amigo. However, Jesus’ death carries with it everyone’s sin and His forgiveness and His resurrection carries with it everyone’s hope for eternity with Him. And that, my friends, is how God mends broken hearts....mine included.
